Rockville, MD -- The ABA Maryland Nighthawks were out in force earlier this month to help the Washington DC Metropolitan Police in the 23rd Annual National Night Out. Several Nighthawks' players, including ABA Dunk Champion Ray "Hops" Cunningham and Nighthawks team MVP, Anton Jenifer, joined the police force at the Emery Recreation Center to talk with kids and hold mini-instructional clinics.
The National Night Out is a night set aside to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for local anti-crime efforts and promote neighborhood spirit and police community partnership. Nighthawks co-owner, Jeanette McCool, who attended the night stated, "This is an extremely important night for our community and it is very important that the Nighthawks are here to assist. Our players understand the importance of being role models to the youth and are always happy to assist at these events."
