MARYLAND NIGHTHAWKS GO ON EBAY WITH CHARITY AUCTIONS

August 2, 2006

Rockville, MD- Have you ever wanted to spend the afternoon with a professional basketball player? How about lunch with Lawrence Moten or a game of H-O-R-S-E with Randy “White Chocolate” Gill? The Maryland Nighthawks have made it all possible with their online charity auctions.

According to Adam Dantus, the Nighthawks Director of Sales and Marketing, “Not only will you get a once in a lifetime experience, but you will also be helping kids in and around the Washington Metropolitan area as all proceeds will benefit the Hoop Dreams Scholarship Fund.”

The Hoop Dreams Scholarship Fund (HDSF) was founded in 1996 by Susie Kay, who taught American Government at H.D. Woodson High School in Washington, DC for over a decade. The organization began as a one-day event, a 3-on-3 charity basketball tournament staged to raise money for academic college scholarships for Kay's students. Since their inception, they have helped nearly 800 public school students accomplish their dreams of attending college through a combination of mentoring, internships, S.A.T. prep, and $3 million in academic scholarships while building bridges of understanding between diverse communities.
